Library Coordinator for Learning Resources Management (LRM) Duke Kunshan University Job Description Position Overview: The Library Coordinator for Learning Resources Management supports the planning, coordination, and continuous improvement of course-related learning resources at DKU. This position manages textbook services, course reserve support, digital learning platforms, copyright guidance, budgeting, and faculty/student support. The role also helps develop cost-effective and accessible learning resource strategies, including eBooks, textbook e-platforms, and Open Educational Resources (OER), while building strong working relationships with faculty, students, publishers, vendors, and campus partners. Reports to: University Librarian Essential Duties: Develop and manage textbook-related policies and guidelines to support DKU’s teaching and learning mission. Manage the full lifecycle of textbook services, including collecting faculty requests, ordering, distribution, and expense tracking. Work closely with faculty to identify required and recommended course materials, including textbooks, eBooks, online learning platforms, and other format resources, and provide instructional copies as needed. Evaluate and decide on appropriate formats (print or digital), purchasing models, and quantities to balance cost, access, and teaching needs. Support and enhance the use of the course reserve system to integrate course readings into teaching and improve resource discoverability. Explore and support solutions for integrating textbook e-platforms with teaching activities and course management systems. Manage textbook-related budgeting and financial processes, including monitoring textbook funds and calculating student textbook fees, while working closely with library and finance colleagues to ensure smooth workflows and timely information sharing. Support faculty’s special course-related requests, such as scheduled printing needs and other learning material support. Provide clear copyright guidance to faculty and students to support the proper use of teaching materials. Provide user support to faculty and students, including troubleshooting access issues and developing clear user guides for different platforms. Organize orientations and workshops (e.g., for freshmen and faculty) to improve awareness and effective use of learning resources, and understand the procedure for textbook management. Maintain effective communication with publishers and vendors, exploring cost-effective purchasing models and maintaining good partnerships. Promote the use of Open Educational Resources (OER) and other affordable options to reduce student costs and expand access to learning materials. Collect and maintain data on learning resources to support and deliver statistical reporting, informed decision-making, and service optimization. Work toward achieving assigned annual objectives and KPIs, demonstrating accountability for performance and results. Perform other duties as assigned. University employees' job responsibilities will continue to expand in scope and depth as the University grows in size and complexity in its programs. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in publishing and distribution, marketing, education, library and information science, science, or a related field. At least 2 years of full-time work experience in an academic, publishing, library, or higher education setting. Knowledge of textbook management, academic publishing, eBooks, digital learning platforms, and course-related learning resources. Understanding of Open Educational Resources (OER), fair use, and copyright issues related to teaching and learning materials; familiarity with both U.S. and China contexts preferred. Strong service mindset and demonstrated commitment to high-quality user experience for faculty and students. Excellent organizational, planning, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with faculty, students, administrators, publishers, vendors, and campus partners. Ability to manage multiple tasks, timelines, and unexpected or complex issues independently and efficiently. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Windows, and other common office or communication tools. Ability to use AI tools appropriately to support learning resource discovery, workflow efficiency, data analysis, user support, and service improvement. Strong oral and written communication skills in Chinese and English. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
